Optical Systems Engineer - Medical Devices - Cambridge
We are working with a leading Medical Devices company in Cambridge to recruit an Optical Systems Engineer who will play a key role in the development of industry disrupting and lifesaving/improving Medical Technologies.
Responsibilities
This hands‑on engineering role involves designing and integrating optical systems into complex medical technologies. From early feasibility through to product launch, you will help shape devices that improve diagnostics, treatment, and patient outcomes across a range of clinical applications. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists, working on simulation, prototyping, testing, and refinement with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and real‑world usability.
Qualifications
A solid academic foundation in physics, engineering, or a related discipline and hands‑on experience in optical design and analysis is required. Confidence using industry‑standard tools and a track record of delivering robust solutions in regulated environments are essential. Experience in medical devices is highly desirable, but not essential if you bring strong transferable skills and a passion for healthcare innovation. The role also benefits from mentoring junior colleagues and working closely with clients to bring ideas to life.
