Teaching Personnel is currently working with a specialist SEMH provision in the BL3 area of Bolton to recruit a committed and flexible SEMH Support Assistant to work with young people who require additional behavioural, emotional, and social support.
This full-time role is ideal for someone with previous experience in education, youth work, or care settings — and who is confident in supporting young people both in the classroom and during off-site enrichment activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for pupils who may display challenging behaviour
Assist in the delivery of structured learning sessions and therapeutic activities
Take students out on off-site enrichment and activity days — a full UK driving licence is essential
Build strong, positive relationships with students to support their personal and academic development
Work collaboratively with teachers, mentors, and other support staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs
A full UK driving licence and willingness to transport students for activities/trips
Resilience, patience, and a calm, confident approach
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable or at-risk young people
The ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour and provide consistent, supportive care
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
