Length of employment: Job Summary: The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Job Description: As the lead for the Digital projects and programmes in the Directorate, you will be responsible for overseeing a number of business focused digital projects, your role involves coordinating and leading the team towards successful project completion. It is essential to ensure effective communication, task delegation, and timely delivery of project milestones. Managing resources, timelines, and stakeholder expectations are key responsibilities in ensuring the project's success. You will stay updated on industry trends, technology advancements, plot and manage potential risks threats and opportunities crucial for making informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle. Foster collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability within your team, and navigate the complexities of digital projects to achieve desired outcomes in line with Strategic outputs for the Army. This opportunity will place you at the centre of data and digital transformation, driving efficiency and optimisation of data across the Army, it will require you to work across directorates and closely with Defence level organisations. The need for data and digital skills and capabilities is growing exponentially, and you will be able to influence much of this at the start of the transformation journey. In this role you will : Champion Modern Ways of Working: Drive the governance and ethics around the Army's adoption of digitalisation in accordance with Defence /cross government and Army design Authority policies and direction Empower Decision-Making: Develop and deploy relevant data and tools that provide actionable insights to leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels Drive Cultural Change: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by championing the use of digital technologies across the directorate, providing training and support to empower teams to embrace new ways of working Collaborate for Success: Partner with Defence Digital, Head Office, and the Strategic Hub to ensure alignment with broader MOD digital / data strategies and leverage best practices Shape the Future: Stay at the forefront of digital and data advancements including AI, continuously exploring new applications and opportunities to enhance the directorate's capabilities Key responsibilities will include: Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and deliverables for digital projects Team Leadership: Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure project goals are met Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate project progress, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively, including team members, budget, and technology tools, to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget Risk Management: Identify potential risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to minimise project disruptions. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of project deliverables by conducting regular reviews, quality checks, and testing to meet project requirements and standards Communication: Maintain clear and open communication channels within the team and with stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and facilitate collaboration Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial resources are optimally utilised to deliver project objectives within budget constraints Adherence to Deadlines: Manage project timelines, monitor progress against milestones, and take corrective actions to ensure timely delivery of project phases and final deliverables Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and drive innovation to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant records to track project progress and ensure accountability Client Relationship Management: Build ad maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, addressing feedback, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle The Army prides itself on being a supportive employer and where possible encourages flexible working, helping you to maintain a great work/life balance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in P3M with a focus on digital projects. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can handle the pressure of coordinating a wide range of activities and should be comfortable working within the data and digital profession, willing to challenge established norms and process and be prepared to adapt to changing priorities. Applicants should also have effective written and verbal communication skills and display a positive and professional attitude.
