We are looking to employ an Assistant Psychologist in our Psychological Therapy Service based in Mill House in Uxbridge. Uxbridge is on the piccadilly and metropolitan lines and accessible from London as well as areas west of London.
The successful candidate will be fully integrated within the Community Mental Health Service, divided into 3 multidisciplinary Mental Health Hubs. They will work closely with members of the MDT as well as psychological therapists, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
The post holder will offer step 2 psychoeducational groups to users of our services, in particular those with Complex Emotional Needs, using a trauma informed approach.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to provide psychological and psychosocial interventions packages based on and informed by evidence-based psychological models and treatments. Some work may be aimed at helping clients with activities of daily living and facilitating client’s engagement with community services. You will be meeting with and assessing whether the step 2 groups we have on offer would be suitable for service users as well as reviewing their progress in the groups over time, using quantitative measures, qualitative questionnaires and clinical interviews. You will, in conjunction with others, audit the efficacy of the groups.

The post holder will receive training in all areas of his/her work as well as receive regular clinical supervision by an appropriately qualified Clinical Psychologist.

The post holder will be embedded within our community services’ multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the recovery of clients via the provision of treatment, care and support. To participate in the delivery of these services, whose goal is facilitating the greatest personal recovery of clients. The post holder will work alongside and assist with the clinical management of clients as agreed by the MDTs:
By assisting with the planning of clients’ treatment/care & support by undertaking psychological assessments for step 2 interventions offered in groups and individually.
By assisting with the implementation of aspects of clients’ care & support plans by providing psychological interventions of a routine nature, under the clinical supervision of a qualified professional psychologist drawing on their supervisor’s expertise and intervention as and when advised and directed.
By providing time limited assistance and support using psychological approaches to enable service users overcome practical difficulties/barriers impacting on their individual recovery,
Undertaking clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
