Overview
As Operational Manager with the Buckinghamshire Archives Service, you would have a key role in helping to prepare the service to relocate from Aylesbury to High Wycombe and oversee the service's public engagement. The Service has records that cover over 800 years of Buckinghamshire's history, which are made available to the public in its Searchroom (Aylesbury) and online via the Virtual Searchroom.
About the role
This would be a great opportunity to gain experience to further your career. The role requires the post holder to manage a team to deliver the day to day running of the Archives Service and lead the planning for the relocation of the Archive Service from Aylesbury to High Wycombe, ensuring it is ready to reopen once relocated. The post is the lead for the services' customer service, community engagement, and health and safety.
About you
You will have the ability to successfully manage conflicting priorities, such as day-to-day service management and relocation work, to achieve a successful outcome. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, can communicate the benefits of the relocation to a range of audiences, and will have proven experience of managing a team, setting goals and monitoring performance, and taking action in line with corporate policies and procedures, if required. Please note that the post holder will be required to carry out manual handling.

The team is currently based in the Walton Street offices in Aylesbury, but the service is relocating to High Wycombe, reopening there in the Spring of 2027.
