Project Manager – Rail & Civil Engineering Location: North Wales CoastBusiness Unit: Wales RegionSector: Rail & Civil Engineering About the Role We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Wales business unit, leading the delivery of rail and civil engineering projects across the North Wales Coast. This role will play a key part in managing works delivered through long-term frameworks and competitively tendered schemes, with an initial focus on footbridge widening and accessibility projects. Current and upcoming works include Sandy Lane and Pen Uchaf footbridge widening schemes, forming part of Network Rail and Transport for Wales active travel and DDA compliance programmes, alongside wider CP7 civils and structures works across the region. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for project delivery from pre-construction through to completion, managing teams, programme, cost, safety, quality and stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced, possession-based environment. About the Business Unit Our Wales business unit is a dynamic, expanding operational region delivering multidisciplinary civil engineering works across: Rail infrastructure (bridges, footbridges, platforms, stations, embankments, tunnels) CP7 infrastructure and civils frameworks Access for All and active travel schemes Structural refurbishment and reconstruction projects Environment Agency and Local Authority works The team is currently mobilising and delivering significant infrastructure works across North Wales, with a strong pipeline secured through long-term frameworks. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & Leadership Manage projects from pre-qualification, tendering and mobilisation through to completion and handover Lead and coordinate site teams, including Site Engineers, Site Agents, subcontractors and supply chain partners Ensure teams clearly understand contract requirements, programme constraints and resource needs Provide visible leadership across site and office teams, promoting high standards of delivery Safety, Quality & Compliance Take overall responsibility for SHEQ performance, ensuring compliance with all legislative, contractual and company requirements Ensure effective planning and control of ITPs, WPPs, Task Briefs and possession documentation Promote a strong safety culture across all works, including weekend and night-shift possessions Programme & Commercial Control Plan and manage project programmes, including possession-based works Monitor progress against programme and budget, implementing corrective actions where required Work closely with commercial teams to manage cost, change control and variations Support the identification and management of contract change and risk Stakeholder & Client Management Build and maintain strong working relationships with:Network Rail Transport for Wales Clients, designers and local stakeholders Act as the primary escalation point for project issues, ensuring solutions are delivered efficiently Reporting & Business Growth Provide regular progress, performance and commercial updates to the Contracts Manager and Framework Manager Support business development by identifying opportunities for repeat work and framework growth in North Wales About You You will be an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in rail and civil engineering, particularly structures and bridge-related works. You will be comfortable managing works in possession environments, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering projects safely in live rail settings.
