Position

Senior Healthcare Support Worker, based at Central Clinic – Kilmarnock. This is a permanent post covering term‑time.

This role will be advertised on NHS Jobs Scotland. We anticipate a high level of interest and may close the vacancy early once enough applications are received, so please complete and submit your application as soon as possible.


Hours

30 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.


UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role, as this post is community based covering various clinic locations.


What You Will Do

The post provides interventional support for families and delivers programmes of work which are delegated and supervised by the child’s School Nurse. The Healthcare Support Worker is integral to the local School Nursing teams in East Ayrshire where joint working with partners is essential to the delivery of co‑ordinated care with families. A key interest in areas of supporting children with additional needs, positive parenting, supporting families affected by addictions, child communication, language development, nutrition, play and healthy weight are essential.


Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required

* Educational attainment at SPQ level 6 or working towards this.
* Experience of working with children and families in the community or within an education setting.
* Knowledge of health and social care services available for children and families.
* Knowledge of the issues that can impact the health and wellbeing of children and their families.
* Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised.
* Good communication skills (verbal and written).

Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre‑employment checks.
