Leader Education are pleased to be recruiting a SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a small, co-educational secondary provision in Newcastle. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them reach their full potential.
The school supports pupils aged 11–16 years and prides itself on offering a broad, aspirational curriculum tailored to the individual needs of every learner. Recently rated “Good” by Ofsted, the provision is recognised for creating a compassionate, respectful and nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported to thrive.
About the role:
* Full-time, long-term position following a successful trial
* Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
* Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and fully engage in classroom activities
* Building positive relationships to support emotional wellbeing, behaviour and learning
The ideal candidate will:
* Have an understanding of SEMH needs and the challenges some young people may face
* Be compassionate, patient and committed to honesty, inclusivity and respect
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Be able to support pupils both academically and emotionally
* Have experience working with children in an educational setting (desirable, not essential)
* Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
