We're currently supporting a long-standing engineering firm in Teesside in the search for an experienced Estimator to join their commercial and projects team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established and growing business, working on a broad range of fabrication, mechanical, structural, and industrial projects across the UK.
What You'll Be Doing
As Estimator, you will play a vital role in pricing tenders and projects accurately and competitively, liaising with internal departments, suppliers, and clients to produce robust cost estimates that reflect project scope and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and assess incoming enquiries, technical drawings, and specifications
Liaise with clients to clarify project scope, timelines, and deliverables
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, plant, and subcontractors
Work closely with the engineering, fabrication, and project teams to align estimates with operational capability
Request and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Support the preparation of formal tender submissions and client proposals
Attend site visits or client meetings as required to inform the estimating process
Monitor material and labour cost fluctuations to ensure pricing remains competitive
Maintain accurate records of tenders, quotations, and historical project data What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an estimating role within an engineering, fabrication, or industrial environment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of materials, processes, and labour costs
Confident communicator, capable of engaging with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g. Candy, Conquest, or similar)
A methodical, detail-oriented approach with strong organisational skills Desirable:
Engineering or construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
Familiarity with steel fabrication, piping, or industrial installation projects Why Apply?
