What will you do?
The CWA is recruiting a Quality Engineer to support the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. Based in Suffolk, with hybrid working available, this role plays a key part in ensuring works are delivered in line with customer, regulatory and industry requirements.
The Quality Engineer will work closely with delivery teams and the supply chain to embed quality across the full project lifecycle, supporting assurance activities, verification, and continuous improvement
Supporting the coordination, submission and management of quality and assurance activities
Ensuring compliance with customer requirements, external accreditations and industry best practice
Helping establish and maintain test and inspection plans across the works
Contributing to a strong Right First Time and Zero Harm culture across the project
Supporting quality assurance activities across off‑site and on‑site manufacturing operations, ensuring manufactured components meet specified requirements prior to delivery and installation
Working with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturing quality plans, inspection regimes and hold points are defined, implemented and complied with
Monitoring and verifying compliance of manufactured products, temporary works and pre‑fabricated elements against approved specifications, drawings and standards
Supporting the management and close‑out of manufacturing non‑conformances, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
What are we looking for?
The CWA is looking for a quality‑focused professional who can influence, collaborate and add value across a complex construction environment.
Accountabilities include:
Attending pre‑start meetings on complex or high‑value packages
Supporting project teams and reviewing supply chain quality plans and inspection & test plans
Providing quality advice and support to delivery teams and suppliers
Monitoring quality performance using digital assurance and reporting systems
Supporting audits, investigations and the close‑out of quality issues
Assisting with handover documentation to meet customer requirements
Contributing to training, coaching and sharing lessons learned across teams
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the project lifecycle
Essential experience and capabilities:
Previous quality or relevant operational/technical experience within construction or manufacturing
Understanding of ISO 9000 terminology and quality management principles
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge constructively
Proficient in modern digital systems, including Office 365
Level 4+ qualification in Quality, Construction or Manufacturing (or equivalent)
Desirable:
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor training
Experience with digital progressive assurance systems
CQI Practitioner status or working towards it
