4. As a Product Development Test Technician, you will play a key role in supporting engineering testing activities under the direct supervision of the Engineering Test Manager and indirect guidance of test engineers. You will contribute to the execution of the technology strategic plan for product qualification using conventional and high‑pressure testing techniques.
5. This role requires a strong practical understanding of engineering principles, especially in high‑pressure systems and data acquisition, along with a proactive approach to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
6. As a Product Development Test Technician, you will be responsible for:
7. Creating, reading, and validating engineering drawings
8. Executing test plans, FMEAs, COIs, and verbal instructions while collaborating closely with engineers and project teams
9. Liaising with internal teams, external clients, and independent verification authorities (IVA’s)
10. Operating tooling, power tools, cranes, and forklift equipment safely
11. Driving improvements through lean methodologies, Kaizen initiatives, and innovative ideas
12. Leading assigned testing activities with a strong focus on safety and efficiency
13. Performing fault‑finding on test rigs, mechanical, and electrical systems
14. Diagnosing and resolving issues in test samples
15. Working with DAQ hardware and software, ideally using National Instruments, FlexLogger, or Yokogawa systems
16. Traveling within the UK and globally as required
17. Supporting Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards aligned with Baker Hughes safety culture
18. Owning and reviewing testing procedures on an annual basis
19. Carrying out additional tasks as directed by the Engineering Test Manager

20. To be successful in this role, you will:
21. Be a time‑served engineering technician
22. Hold a minimum of HNC/HND in a relevant discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
23. Be PC literate with a strong understanding of data acquisition systems
24. Have experience within the oil and gas industry
25. Demonstrate knowledge of data recording systems (experience with National Instruments is advantageous)
26. Bring experience in high‑pressure systems testing
27. Have exposure to torque and tensioning equipment
28. Possess electrical instrumentation knowledge
29. Have flexible pipe or pipe completion experience (advantageous)
30. Demonstrate welding experience (advantageous)
31. Be comfortable working independently and within a team environment
32. Show strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
