Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non‑clinical roles. We deliver a range of acute, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million locally and 2.2 million nationwide.

We are seeking a Call Handler to support the Phlebotomy Single Point of Access (SPoA) team at the Adelphi Centre in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. The SPoA is the first point of contact for all telephone calls and referrals (including electronic) into the Phlebotomy service.


Shift Pattern

The shift pattern for this post is 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8.30 – 4.30 with one early finish (4 pm) per week.

Effective 1 April 2026 the full‑time hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.


Responsibilities

* Answer all inbound calls and perform outbound calls to support the Phlebotomy service.
* Input all referrals accurately and timely into the electronic patient information system.
* Ensure the onward transmission of referrals and/or messages.
* Triage patients as appropriate and book appointments for the Phlebotomy service.


Qualifications

* Good communication skills.
* Excellent keyboard skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure.
* Adaptability and customer‑care focus.
* Polite telephone etiquette and pleasant manner.
* Excellent team‑working skills.
* Previous experience in a call centre or similar role is desirable.
* Reliable and flexible to meet the needs and demands of the service.


Other Important Information

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship.
