We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal EICA Engineer, hybrid working available with an expectation to attend sites on a regular basis.
You will report directly to the RDL and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards pertaining to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Produce design layouts that are cost-effective, meet the requirements of the specification, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively. The term ‘cost’ includes all costs associated with the design and subsequent construction, such as design time, material costs, erection costs, and impacts on other disciplines.
2. Ensure standard practices are utilized wherever possible.
3. Maintain competitiveness.
4. Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
5. Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
6. Assist in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
7. Write, update, and monitor efficient procedures to aid departmental operations.
8. Coordinate designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT to ensure integrated design processes.
9. Maintain files and records throughout project durations.
10. Assure customer satisfaction by focusing on beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders.
11. Maintain a personal development plan.
12. Assist in supervising and developing staff.
13. Ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
14. Minimize waste from departmental activities.
15. Ensure designs consider environmental issues.
16. Ensure designs fully comply with all health and safety requirements.
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
* Experience managing staff in designing water and sewage treatment plants.
* Full Membership of a professional institution, Chartered Engineer.
Preferred qualifications:
* Relevant discipline Engineering degree.
Minimum requirements:
* Relevant discipline Engineering HND with extensive suitable experience.
* Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
* Good knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
* Flexible mindset capable of assimilating large amounts of data.
* Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
* Computer literacy.
* Driving license.
Desirable:
* Relevant Engineering Master’s Degree.
