Role & Responsibilities
* Repair, adjust, and maintain equipment (i.e. shear balers, excavator scissors, machine handlers, machine scrap grabs, conveyors, material feeders, shovel loaders) to ensure that it functions reliably and complies with process specifications.
* Oversee multiple sites from Cardiff to Bristol and manage maintenance schedules and repairs across these sites.
* Respond to emergencies, break-downs, malfunctions, and other operating problems and diagnose faults to minimise disruptions.
* Implement an established maintenance programme and maintain detailed maintenance records so that recurring problems with machinery, equipment, or parts can be identified and addressed.
* Conduct periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair.
* Interrogate and understand maintenance problems and provide plant condition information /recommendations.
* Oversee contractors and ensure work is carried out to the required standards.
* Support with planning and scheduling maintenance activities (for example planned maintenance programmes, shut-downs, or emergency repairs).
* Fabrication and welding of machine components.
* Support with the development and implementation of repair and maintenance procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Engineering.
* Mechanical Biased Maintenance Experience.
* Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer (or similar role) preferable within heavy industry.
* Knowledge of conveyors, material handling equipment and PLC controlled automated machinery.
* Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
