Family Law Partners – an employee-owned firm – are looking for an experienced Operations Director to join our multiple-award-winning team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a practice named in Times Best Law Firms 2025.
The Role
This role leads all operational personnel across our hubs and consultant network. You will inspire and direct high-performing teams, embed our values across the business, and act as a visible champion of excellence in client and internal service delivery. This is a senior post requiring proven experience in law firm operations or a senior leadership position within a legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Operational Leadership
* Translate the firm’s vision and strategy into effective, consistent operational delivery across all offices and support functions.
* Partner closely with the Managing Director to shape the operational framework that enables growth, performance, and care.
* Lead the ongoing development of scalable, values-aligned systems, processes and infrastructure.
Inspirational Team Leadership
* Lead and support all non-legal staff, including:
* HR team members
* Administrative and facilities support
* Inspire a culture of accountability, professionalism and kindness, aligned to the firm’s core values.
* Promote collaboration and clarity of purpose across teams, ensuring everyone understands their role in delivering service excellence.
Compliance & Risk Oversight
* Ensure firm-wide compliance with:
* SRA regulations
* AML and KYC obligations
* Data protection and confidentiality protocols
* Work closely with the COLP and COFA to embed a culture of proactive compliance and risk awareness.
* Oversee the firm’s operational audit and reporting responsibilities.
Infrastructure & Office Management
* Oversee all operational facilities and service delivery across the firm’s physical offices and remote infrastructure.
* Ensure a consistently excellent working environment for all legal staff and consultants.
* Lead procurement, IT liaison, supplier relationships, and operational budgeting to ensure resilience and value.
* Design and manage operational support systems that empower our consultant lawyers to work efficiently and in line with firm standards.
* Ensure consultants receive responsive, compliant and consistent operational backing.
Champion of Client and Internal Service Excellence
* Set and uphold the highest standards of service for both internal and external clients.
* Ensure our teams deliver a seamless, caring and professional experience across every client touchpoint.
* Continuously review and enhance the internal service environment to support the well-being and performance of our legal teams.
* Collaborate with the HR function to ensure high-quality recruitment, onboarding, performance support, and retention.
* Help workforce planning across hubs, ensuring legal and operational teams are resourced effectively.
* Promote a values-led, inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
Who You Are
* An experienced operational leader with significant prior experience in a law firm or senior role within a legal services environment.
* A confident and collaborative leader with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams.
* Deeply aligned with values of care, transparency, and high performance – with the ability to model and reinforce these in others.
* Knowledgeable in compliance, professional regulations, and legal operational risk.
* Commercially astute, systems-minded, and skilled in managing change and complexity.
