We’re looking for an experienced Strategy and Policy Specialist to join our central Strategic Design and Transition Programme. The role focuses on shaping the future of the EA in light of the Independent Water Commission’s (IWC) recommendations, including the possibility of a single integrated water regulator.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality, balanced, evidence‑based advice to support future thinking related to the IWC report recommendations.
* Engage with colleagues across government, EA partners and other regulators to develop and share our thinking.
* Challenge constructively, embrace diverse thinking, and keep pace in a fast‑moving environment.
* Assume a flexible role and assist other projects within the programme as required.
* Actively contribute to a high‑performing, agile team that thrives under demand and ambiguity.
Experience and Skills Required
* Experience working with central government to develop policy, including collaboration with specialists such as economists and scientists.
* Strategic thinking and the ability to act on that thinking.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills, translating complex or ambiguous issues into simple, targeted advice on short notice.
* Experience working across boundaries and influencing at all levels.
Other Information
Location: EA office base. The role is national and the working location is flexible, with occasional travel, including overnight stays.
Contract length: up to 12 months.
