People and Culture Lead at Integrated Sustainability
Description
The Senior Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Specialist is the plant’s lead technical authority responsible for auditing, optimizing, stabilizing, and troubleshooting seawater reverse osmosis systems. The role begins with a 3-month on-island assignment during which the Specialist completes a comprehensive plant audit, leads daily operational optimization, and trains local supervisors and technicians. After this initial engagement, the Specialist continues to provide structured monthly and quarterly site visits along with remote technical support to maintain optimal performance and build long‑term Bermudian capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct a complete technical audit covering membranes, pumps, energy recovery devices, dosing systems, automation/controls, and hydraulics.
* Lead plant operations during the onboarding period, ensuring optimized production, permeate quality, and stable system performance.
* Deliver intensive hands‑on training for Bermudian operators and supervisors in RO fundamentals, troubleshooting, instrumentation, and emergency procedures.
* Diagnose and resolve complex process issues including fouling, scaling, pump imbalance, and deteriorating permeate quality.
* Develop and refine CIP procedures, membrane cleaning protocols, and antiscalant dosing strategies.
* Support PLC replacement, SCADA configuration, instrumentation calibration, and other upgrade projects.
* Provide remote technical assistance between scheduled visits to review data trends and recommend operational adjustments.
* Conduct regular onsite optimization visits and produce detailed performance reports with recommended improvements.
* Perform other related duties as required.
Education, Experience & Requirements
* Minimum 10 years of direct, hands‑on experience with SWRO desalination plants in the 1MGD range and technical complexity.
* Experience working with utilities or government‑owned water systems strongly preferred.
* Certified Water Treatment Operator (RO or membrane specialization) from an internationally recognized accreditation body (e.g., ABC, IWES, EU Certification Authority, or equivalent).
* Expert‑level knowledge of membrane diagnostics, high‑pressure pumps, energy recovery devices, and system hydraulics.
* Strong ability to mentor, train, and build capacity in developing operator teams.
* Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Safety Sensitive Position
This role is a Safety Sensitive Position. As such, the following duties and expectations will be critical to your role:
* Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
* Must be able to lift up to 77 pounds/35 kilos on a daily continuous basis.
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
* Must be able to work on uneven surfaces.
* Must be able to work at heights and in diverse weather.
* Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a light duty truck.
* This position requires working in a remote field environment; therefore, expect varying working conditions.
* Must be able to pass drug and alcohol and field readiness tests required by clients or by Ecohesion.
