Heeley City Farm supports community regeneration and self-help within environmentally friendly and self-sustaining systems. We address issues related to poverty, inequality, and lack of opportunity within our inner-city community by working with young people not in education or employment, adults with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties, as well as those with dementia. Based a 20-minute walk from the Sheffield City Centre, we offer a unique environment featuring a mini-farm, community gardens, and a café that makes fresh cakes and food daily and caters for large community festivals.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Head Chef. The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, including creating menus, supervising kitchen staff, preparing and cooking meals, ensuring food quality and safety standards are met, and managing kitchen inventory. The head chef will also be responsible for catering at large community festivals. This is an on-site role located in Sheffield.
£29,991 per annum | 37.5 hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) working days to be mutually agreed
Responsibilities
* Oversee all kitchen operations and ensure high standards of food quality and safety
* Create menus and plan meals for daily service and events
* Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate with front-of-house as needed
* Prepare and cook meals to required quality and portion standards
* Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships
* Monitor food safety, hygiene, and cost controls
* Cater at large community festivals and events
Qualifications
* Menu development and planning
* Experience in kitchen management and staff supervision
* Knowledge of food safety and quality standards
* Inventory management, cost control and budgeting
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
* Catering experience for large events is a plus
* Relevant culinary qualifications
