We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our busy GP practice as a Phlebotomist to support with the delivery of venepuncture clinics for our patients for approximately 27 hours per week.

Job responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks appropriate to the role, dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels:
* Ensure the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and obtain consent to the taking of a blood sample.
* Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
* Ensure samples are stored in appropriate containers.
* Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.
* Check patient identification against clinical request, confirming with the patient wherever possible.
* Recording collection of blood sample in patient records in accordance with practice procedure.
* Ensure that samples are despatched to the laboratory in a timely manner.
* Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
* Notify the clinical team of any significant patient issues.
* Liaise with, and assist, members of the administrative team.
Qualifications
* Relevant phlebotomy certification.

Experience
* Experience of working with the public.

* At least 6 months continuous experience in venepuncture.
* Experience of working in a primary care environment.
