NIGHT TRANSPORT ADMINISTRATOR
Newell & Wright Transport are a family run company operating since 1974 and are one of the leading transport companies in South Yorkshire, transporting freight containers by road and rail to customers across the UK. We serve many blue-chip companies as well as the largest globally recognized container shipping lines.
We currently run a fleet of 150 vehicles from our head office in Sheffield, along with 7 freight trains from our two railheads located in Sheffield and Rotherham.
In July 2025, we opened a new depot in Ilkeston with 40 brand new articulated vehicles as part of our continued investment in the business.
Due to continued success, we are seeking to recruit a Night Transport Administrator to be based in our main Depot in Sheffield.
Night Transport Administrator
We are currently seeking a reliable and organised Night Transport Administrator to join our busy transport team. This is a key support role working closely with the Night Transport Planner to ensure smooth and efficient overnight operations.
The Role
As Night Transport Administrator, you will assist in coordinating night-time transport activities, helping to maintain service levels, compliance, and communication across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Booking and amending VBS (Vehicle Booking System) slots
* Monitoring and reporting driver defects via TOPS
* Assisting with the distribution and allocation of drivers
* Supporting the Night Transport Planner with administrative tasks
* Maintaining accurate records and transport documentation
* Communicating effectively with drivers and relevant departments
* Responding to operational issues in a timely and professional manner
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a transport or logistics administration role (preferred)
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently during night shifts
* Good IT skills and confidence using transport systems
* Excellent communication skills
* A proactive and problem-solving mindset
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Working Hours
Night shift – 11 hour shifts.
