To provide psychological support and interventions for service users aged 19 and above with challenging behaviour, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and learning disabilities. The trainee psychologist will work within a multidisciplinary team to improve the psychological well-being and quality of life of the service users.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assessment and Diagnosis:
* Conduct initial psychological assessments of service users to identify their needs, strengths, and challenges.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive care and activity plans based on the assessment findings and meetings
2. Psychological Interventions:
* Provide individual interventions tailored to the needs of service users, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and behavioural interventions.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and modify plans as necessary.
* Consultation and Collaboration:
* Collaborate with other professionals, including support workers, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated and holistic care for service users.
* Provide consultation and guidance to staff on managing challenging behaviour, ASD, and learning disabilities.
* Documentation and Record Keeping:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of psychological assessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance with professional standards and data protection regulations.
* Professional Development:
* Engage in regular supervision and seek opportunities for professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
* Adhere to the British Psychological Society (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct and relevant legislation, including the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of proficiency.
The following personal attributes are considered essential to the post of care worker:
* Currently enrolled in the final year of a psychology degree programme or recently graduated with a BSc or MSc in Psychology.
* Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and challenging behaviour.
* Previous experience working in a similar setting or with a similar client group is desirable but not essential.
