Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Materials Management Service at Furness General Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about customer service and stock management. The position provides a stock replenishment service to wards and departments, replenishing stock to agreed levels and checking and putting away goods on receipt. The role supports an efficient and effective R&D service to wards and departments, ensuring deliveries are received in good condition, accurately checked and promptly booked in prior to distribution around the hospital. The successful candidate will represent the department and handle customer queries and complaints in a professional and positive manner.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of a materials managed service, undertaking day-to-day ordering activity on behalf of the customer. Replenish goods at theatre and departmental level using bar code systems as appropriate.
* Receive, check and put away deliveries ordered via the materials management service. Ensure items are rotated, do not exceed expiry dates, are stored in the correct location and that the store area is kept tidy.
* Perform physical duties daily, including manual handling of roll cages and unpacking products onto store room shelves.
* Process discrepancies for returns and credits in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Carry out quarterly reviews with ward/theatre/department leads, using system information to illustrate spending patterns and identify products and stock levels.
* Keep all associated paperwork regularly updated in line with code and location changes.
* Be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the customer.
* Provide cover for other Materials Management Assistants as identified by the Supply Chain Supervisor.
* Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and policies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Educated to GCSE English/Maths Grade C/4 or equivalent, or relevant experience. ECDL or relevant experience. CIPS level 2.
* Experience in a customer service-related department or similar environment.
* Experience of working in/with multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience of supply chain stock control or purchasing/supply environment.
* Experience with Purchase Order/stock control systems; excellent communication, organisation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
* Good working knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Office & Excel; proven numeracy and literacy skills with attention to detail.
* Desirable criteria: NHS/public sector experience, self-motivated team player, resilience, flexibility, ability to use own initiative, and ability to work unsupervised.
* Previous manual handling training.
