Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager with strong SQL development capability to lead and evolve the company’s IT environment while also delivering database-driven solutions that support operational reporting and decision-making.
This is a hands‑on leadership role within a growing SME environment. The successful candidate will help to oversee the company’s IT infrastructure, networks, and Microsoft environment while designing and developing SQL‑based reporting and data solutions across business systems including ERP and manufacturing operations.
The role requires someone comfortable operating across infrastructure, data, and application development within a practical SME setting.
Responsibilities
IT Leadership
* Manage and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure including:
* Microsoft Windows Server environments
* Active Directory / Entra ID
* Networking, firewalls and security
* Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
* Manage relationships with third‑party IT suppliers and service providers.
* Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with business goals.
* Ensure IT security, patching and compliance.
* Provide escalation support for complex technical issues.
SQL Development & Reporting
* Design, develop and optimise SQL Server databases and relational data models.
* Create stored procedures, views, ETL processes and data integrations.
* Develop reporting solutions using tools such as:
* Power BI
* SAP Crystal Reports
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
* Support ERP and manufacturing systems with reporting, integration and automation.
Data & Application Development
* Develop internal applications and automation tools using a modern language such as:
* C# / .NET
* Python
* or TypeScript / Node.js
* Build integrations between internal systems, ERP, and external platforms.
Manufacturing & Operations Support
* Work closely with operational teams to deliver reporting for:
* Production
* Stock
* Quality
* Logistics
* Support the digitalisation of manufacturing processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
* Strong SQL Server development skills.
* Experience with relational database design and optimisation.
* Reporting tools such as:
* Power BI
* SAP Crystal Reports
* SSRS
* Microsoft infrastructure:
* Windows Server
* Active Directory
* Microsoft 365
* Networking fundamentals (firewalls, switches, VLANs).
* Programming experience in at least one modern language:
* C#, Python, or TypeScript.
Experience
* Experience working in an SME environment.
* Experience supporting ERP or manufacturing systems.
* Ability to balance hands‑on technical work with IT leadership responsibilities.
