We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is located near the center of the historic town of Lewes, just a 5-minute walk away.
Due to HMP Lewes holding remand prisoners, staff are required to work on a rota basis, which may include nights, bank holidays, and weekends. If you seek flexibility, this can be discussed during the interview.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our team at HMP Lewes. The salary is up to £52,507 per annum, depending on experience.

Main Duties
* Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver nurse-led services and prevent hospital admissions.
* Undertake medication rounds and dispense controlled medication.
* Respond to emergency situations.
* Assess patients and undertake reception screening.
* Assess health needs using evidence-based frameworks and conduct risk assessments.
* Assess physical and mental health on admission and throughout custody, making appropriate referrals.
* Make clinical judgments regarding immediate and long-term treatment needs.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience with multidisciplinary and multi-agency working
* Compassionate, non-judgmental approach
* Understanding of mental health policies, clinical governance, NICE standards
* Ability to effectively manage patient risk
Experience in hospital, community, or prison settings is desirable but not essential.
