Demand & Growth Planner
Location: Falmer (hybrid working with 2 days in office/site)
Salary: From £43,700 (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Southern Water is seeking a forward-thinking Demand & Growth Planner to help shape the future of water resource planning across the South East. If you're passionate about data, forecasting, and long-term sustainability, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a vital industry.
Key Purpose
You’ll play a central role in preparing statutory plans—including the Water Resource Management Plan, Drought Plan, and Business Plan—by developing robust growth and demand forecasts over a 5–50 year horizon. Your insights will help ensure that Southern Water continues to meet the needs of our communities while protecting the environment.
Key Accountabilities
1. Develop and maintain long-term growth and demand forecasts
2. Act as Subject Matter Expert in growth and water demand
3. Represent Southern Water in national and regional planning forums
4. Communicate complex data using visualisation tools and stakeholder engagement
You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistency in methodology and data use across water and wastewater services. Your forecasts will incorporate demand management strategies such as leakage reduction and efficiency improvements.

Knowledge & Qualifications:
Technical
10. Experience of research, analysis and quality assurance of technical information and data.
11. Demonstrated ability in autonomous working.
12. Demonstrated experience in collection, management and analysis of large and complex datasets using a range of statistical/analytical techniques.
Essential:
13. Degree in a numerate discipline
14. Experience in research, analysis, and quality assurance of technical data
15. Proven ability to manage and analyse large datasets using statistical techniques
16. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, R, or similar packages
Desirable:
17. Experience developing and interrogating numerical models
18. Ability to build dashboards using Power BI
