Responsibilities

* Actively participate as a member of the OPD team and contribute to efficient clinic operation.
* Assist with maintaining ward stocks, keep storerooms organized, maintain cleanliness of equipment and clinical area.
* Plan and prioritize delegated workload.
* Work within established procedures when delivering care under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional.
* Ensure timely preparation of clinics to support clinic operation.
* Provide personal care to patients/clients ensuring privacy, dignity, and security.
* Obtain informed consent prior to providing care, understand actions required if care is declined.
* Record accurate and timely information in appropriate documentation.
* Support the registered healthcare professional in preparation of clinic trolleys for procedures.
* Undertake and record physiological measurements and point-of-care testing.
* Obtain diagnostic samples (urine, faecal, sputum, wound swabs) and venous blood samples while adhering to infection control and local guidance policies.
* Act as a chaperone when appropriate, support and prepare patients during medical interventions or procedures.
* Participate in clinical emergencies, summon assistance and follow local or national guidance.
* Contribute to cleaning, stocking, assembly, dismantling, maintenance and preparation of clinical and non-clinical equipment to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
* Maintain adequate levels of stock, equipment and materials.
* Work as part of multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients within outpatient setting under supervision of registered healthcare professional.
* Undertake personal care activities and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated.
* Ensure registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on patients/client's condition and progress.
* Ensure working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes.
* Contribute to teaching and supervision of students and junior staff.
* Deliver role in accordance with Health Board/Trust values and Code of Conduct for HCSW's in Wales.


Qualifications

* Recent hospital experience or experience in a caring background.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, plus ability to work as part of a team.
* Knowledge of outpatient work would be useful; training and support will be provided.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and able to work on ad hoc or rotational basis.

* General Medicine, Rheumatology, Respiratory, Gynaecology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and Surgery (not exhaustive).
