Job description

Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Systems Centre Configuration Manager on a contract basis. This role involves managing and deploying software, operating systems, and security updates across a diverse Microsoft end-user and server estate.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Proactively package, test, and deploy software, operating systems, security patches, and updates.
2. Maintain configuration documentation, participate in change management processes, and support end-user engineering tasks.
3. Understand and input into desktop engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
4. Conduct data analysis and design solutions to mitigate security vulnerabilities, improve compliance efficiency, and minimise downtime.
5. Support and mentor colleagues in the use of relevant technology packages and industry standard procedures.
6. Participate in the design and implementation of new IT infrastructure, ensuring secure-by-design and automate-by-default principles.
7. Conduct 3rd line support and troubleshooting as required.

Job Requirements:

8. Expert understanding of MSI/MSIX technology, including transforms.
9. Experience with Operating System Deployment (OSD) tools such as MDT and OS migrations (Windows 10 to Windows 11).
10. Experience in packaging applications for Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server platforms, with demonstrable experience in package defect remediation.
11. Proficiency in SCCM, MECM, and EPM/Intune administration.
12. Knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
13. Scripting experience using BAT, PowerShell, and VB or C# scripts.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with enthusiasm for IT service management.
15. Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, comfortable working with ambiguity.
16. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
17. Adherence to company policies and procedures.
18. Willingness to undertake additional reasonable duties as required for business operations.
