Grupo Cobra plays a leading role in the development of photovoltaic and solar thermal power plants, wind farms, and transmission lines for renewable infrastructure.



* Development and review of Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) plans for operational solar farm projects in compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and HSA inspection requirements for renewable energy facilities.
* Implementation of annual HSW plans and maintenance of HSW management systems for operational solar photovoltaic plants, ensuring compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and HSA renewable energy inspection campaigns.
* Implementation of HSW Policy and Stop Work Policy for operational solar facilities, ensuring compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and specific requirements for energized electrical systems.
* Review and approval of work procedures for maintenance contractors and internal O&M teams, ensuring compliance with Irish electrical safety standards for live solar systems.
* Development and review of risk assessments specific to solar farm operations, including electrical hazards from DC and AC systems in accordance with HSA requirements.
* Management of contractor registration and documentation for operational solar facilities, ensuring compliance with Irish health and safety regulations.
* Delivery of specialized HSW induction training for solar farm operations, including electrical safety for energized photovoltaic systems and maintenance-specific hazards.


Emergency and Operational Safety Planning


* Development and maintenance of emergency response plans for operational solar facilities, including electrical emergency procedures in compliance with Section 11 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
* Creation of site-specific traffic management plans for operational solar farms, accommodating maintenance vehicles and equipment access while maintaining safety standards
* Review and approval of technical proposals for ongoing security, first aid, firefighting systems, and maintenance facilities for operational solar plants.
* Control and approval of HSW documentation from maintenance contractors and service providers through digital platforms, ensuring compliance with Irish renewable energy safety requirements.
1. Inspections and Operational Safety Monitoring


* Leading and conducting HSW inspections of operational solar facilities according to annual programmes, using digital platforms as required by HSA renewable energy inspection protocols.
* Monitoring delivery of pre-task safety briefings for maintenance activities according to annual HSW plans, utilizing digital management systems.
* Conducting weekly safety talks for direct employees and subcontracted maintenance personnel, including specialized safety campaigns for solar operations.
* Development of monthly safety performance dashboards specifically for solar farm operations, including electrical safety metrics and maintenance-related incidents.


Coordination and Regulatory Compliance


* Liaison with external HSW consultants and specialist advisors for complex solar farm maintenance projects as required by Irish regulations.
* Monitoring occupational health surveillance of personnel working on operational solar facilities in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
* Managing external HSW audits by clients and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with HSA renewable energy inspection requirements.
* Weekly coordination meetings with maintenance contractors and technical specialists, ensuring compliance with Irish electrical safety standards for operational solar systems.
* Quarterly safety committees for operational solar projects, fulfilling statutory consultation requirements under Irish health and safety legislation.


Incident Management and Continuous Improvement


* Investigation of accidents and incidents in operational solar facilities, including electrical incidents, development of lessons learned and root cause analysis in accordance with Irish reporting requirements.
* Identification and implementation of safety improvement actions specific to solar farm operations, with focus on electrical safety and maintenance hazards.
* Management and organization of specialized HSW training for solar operations, including electrical safety certification and maintenance-specific competencies.


Equipment and Electrical Safety Management


* Review and approval of maintenance equipment and tools for operational solar facilities, ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards for energized systems.
* Control and management of safety data sheets for chemicals and materials used in solar farm maintenance operations, in accordance with Irish chemical safety regulations.
* Implementation and management of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and work permit systems specifically designed for operational solar photovoltaic systems with live DC circuits.


Specialized Solar Operations Management


* Leading procurement and management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Collective Protective Equipment (CPE) specifically for solar farm operations, including electrical-rated equipment.
* Managing employee participation and consultation programmes for operational solar facilities, ensuring compliance with Irish HSW legislation requirements.
* Serving as primary HSW representative for operational solar projects in all interactions with clients, HSA inspectors, and other regulatory authorities.


Solar-Specific Operational Safety Functions


* Supervision of electrical safety protocols for maintenance work on energized solar systems, including DC isolation procedures and safe working practices around inverters and transformers.
* Monitoring and control of environmental conditions affecting operational safety, including temperature monitoring of electrical equipment and weather-related safety protocols.
* Management of specialized inspection programmes including thermographic surveys, electrical testing, and performance monitoring with appropriate safety oversight.
* Coordination with remote monitoring systems for safety-related alarms and emergency response procedures specific to operational solar facilities.
* Oversight of panel cleaning and maintenance operations, ensuring safe working practices for height work and electrical safety around energized systems.


Requirements


Qualifications and Experience


* Bachelor's Degree, Engineering Degree, or equivalent qualification relevant to electrical systems or renewable energy operations.
* Advanced Health and Safety qualification with specializations in Electrical Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Safety Management.
* Minimum 3-5 years experience in operational and maintenance roles within the renewable energy sector, specifically solar photovoltaic facilities or similar electrical installations.
* Experience with HSA inspection processes and compliance with Irish renewable energy safety regulations.


Technical and Electrical Safety Competencies


* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and digital safety management platforms used in solar operations.
* Expertise in electrical safety management for operational solar photovoltaic systems, including DC and AC electrical hazards.
* Leadership capabilities in HSW matters specific to operational renewable energy facilities.
* Ability to analyze complex HSW requirements for operational solar systems and maintenance activities.
