Hays are working with a well-established manufacturing organisation based in Truro is seeking an Interim Accounts Assistant to support its finance team during a busy period. This role reports to the senior finance function and requires a proactive, detail-focused individual with strong transactional accounting experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales LedgerDaily
Posting bank receipts and cheques
Updating aged debtors reports
Checking sales invoices and applying freight charges where required
Posting sales invoices to the ledger
Monitoring the accounts inbox and responding to queries promptly
Liaising with the sales office regarding customer account status
Weekly
Updating credit control reports and chasing overdue invoices
Liaising with sales representatives on account-related issues
Ensuring cash sheets and remittances are accurately filed
Monthly
Producing and issuing customer statements
Ensuring all cash sheets are posted at month end
Supporting the month-end process
Purchase Ledger (as required)Daily
Monitoring the accounts inbox and responding to supplier enquiries
Processing purchase invoices and statements
Managing unreceipted or out-of-tolerance invoices and maintaining tracking spreadsheets
Handling supplier payment queries and preparing items for payment runs
Weekly
Reconciling supplier statements
Requesting missing invoices promptly
Filing purchase invoices and statements
Issuing remittances following payment runs
Monthly
Ensuring all receipted invoices are processed
Running and clearing received-not-invoiced reports
Updating internal asset/vehicle records
Collating company credit card data
Payroll Support (as required)
Collating payroll information for processing
Recording sickness and absence data
Payroll data entry using internal systems
Producing statutory submissions and pension information
Supporting weekly and monthly payroll reporting
Other Duties
General office xxuwjjq administration and filing
Franking and handling outgoing post
Ad-hoc support duties as required
About You
Previous experience in an accounts assistant or finance support role
Experience within a manufacturing or stock-based environment is advantageous
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator with internal teams and external suppliers
Available immediately or at short notice for an interim assignment
