Job Title: Shift Engineer - Data Centre
Location: Slough, Berkshire
Purpose of the Job
* To provide 24/7 operational and maintenance support at a brand-new, state-of-the-art data centre in Slough.
* To ensure electrical and mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with critical site requirements.
* To deliver both reactive and planned maintenance while maintaining uptime and compliance in a critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate as part of a shift team, maintaining and supporting dataisci infrastructure around the clock.
* Perform fault finding, reactive maintenance, and PPM on electrical and mechanical systems.
* Work safely on LV and HV systems (where authorised), supporting critical power operations.
* Accurately complete maintenance logs, shift handovers, and compliance documentation.
* Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain competency and certification.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of site safety and compliance.
Personal Experience / Qualifications / Skills
* Previous experience in critical environments such as data centres, banking or pharma sites.
* HV and LV electrical experience preferred.
* Strong knowledge of electrical plant, generators and associated systems.
* Ability to work effectively on shift patterns in a team‑oriented environment.
* Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
* Professional, reliable and safety‑conscious approach.
Working Hours & Benefits
* Shift pattern: 24/7 shift working (details discussed at interview)
* Salary: £54,590 per annum + £3,000 shift allowance = £57,590 total

* Accountable to the Shift Supervisor / Engineering Manager.
* No direct line management responsibility.
* Responsible for ensuring uptime, safety and compliance of all critical site systems.
