What You’ll Do
The Mechanical & Electrical Engineer will support the Workspace Manager and oversee all electrical and mechanical operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical & electrical qualifications and extensive experience supervising maintenance/repairs. This role requires technical expertise and proven leadership abilities to ensure efficient operation of all systems within the facility.
Daily Responsibilities
1. Manage all electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and essential equipment.
2. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to optimize system performance and reduce downtime.
3. Respond promptly to mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure issues, addressing emergencies and faults.
4. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with UK electrical and mechanical regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
5. Conduct regular inspections and testing of systems to verify safety, integrity, and performance.
6. Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices, implementing improvements to maintain compliance.
7. Provide technical guidance to technicians and contractors on electrical and mechanical systems.
8. Troubleshoot complex issues, diagnose problems, and implement solutions.
9. Review design specifications, drawings, and proposals for new installations or upgrades.
10. Enforce health and safety standards during maintenance activities.
11. Conduct risk assessments and promote a safety culture among staff and contractors.
12. Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and testing results.
13. Prepare reports on maintenance work, issues encountered, and recommendations for improvements.
14. Assist in budget development, forecasting, and expenditure reports related to maintenance.
15. Support other engineering tasks and demonstrate flexibility in task management.
Qualifications and Skills
* UK electrical qualification such as Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 or equivalent.
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
* Experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in facilities management.
* Strong knowledge of UK electrical regulations, standards, and codes.
* Proficient in HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
* Supervisory experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in facilities management.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining high standards.
* Problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues.
* Full clean driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
