Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily routines, including dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene
* Offer mobility support, including safe use of a hoist and assisting with transfers to/from wheelchair
* Support with meals and feeding, if required
* Facilitate engagement in creative and recreational activities, both at home and during community outings
* Encourage participation in therapeutic exercises as prescribed by her physiotherapist and private movement coach
* Accompany to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and occasional social outings (shopping, events, etc.)
* Foster a nurturing, respectful, and age-appropriate environment
* Maintain clear communication with parents and other caregivers to ensure consistency and alignment in care
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and enthusiastic personal assistant to support a bright and friendly 14-year-old girl with cerebral palsy. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life by providing a combination of hands-on care and social engagement, supporting her both at home and out in the community.
Ideal Candidate
This position is ideal for someone who values building supportive, positive relationships and is committed to helping young people with disabilities grow in independence and confidence. A driving license is desirable to assist with school pick-ups, outings, and appointments, but not essential. Contract type: Hourly Rate 12.21 Hours per week 16 hours per week (evenings after school and weekends). How will the hours be used? Specific days and times are flexible and can be arranged to accommodate your personal circumstances. Employer requires transport? Yes
Qualifications
* Experience working with children or individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities
* A kind, patient, and nurturing demeanour
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including familiarity with communication aids or tools for non-verbal individuals
* Confidence in supporting manual handling, including use of hoists
* Awareness and understanding of safeguarding principles
* Ability to encourage independence while providing necessary support
* Current or previous study/work in a related field (e.g., nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special education, or care work)
* Valid UK driver's license with clean driving record
* Manual Handling training
* First Aid and/or CPR certification
* Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting the role)
