Derby College Group (DCG) are recruiting an Assessment Specialist to work with our Learner Support team. This role will be predominantly based at our Roundhouse campus. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the site and meet the team before applying by contacting the HR recruitment team.
The Opportunity
This role supports the Specialist Assessment Manager in delivering high-quality exam access arrangements and learner support in line with DCG policies, JCQ regulations, GDPR, and the SEND Code of Practice. Responsibilities include carrying out assessments for students with diverse support needs, supporting applications through legal, medical, and DSA funding routes, monitoring support activities, ensuring exam access arrangements are embedded as standard practice, delivering staff training, managing a proactive caseload, liaising with schools to support smooth learner transitions, and acting as an ambassador for inclusive SEND practice across the college.
About You
We are looking for a highly organised, adaptable, and supportive individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to inclusive education. Candidates should have experience supporting learners with learning difficulties and disabilities within education or care settings, assessing individual needs, and recommending appropriate support and examination access arrangements. A thorough understanding of JCQ regulations, safeguarding procedures, the Equality Act 2010, and the SEND Code of Practice is required, alongside the ability to manage a varied workload and respond flexibly to changing learner needs. Holding a relevant teaching qualification, a Level 7 Exam Access Arrangements Assessment qualification, and a specialist qualification relating to disability or learning difficulties is essential, with a commitment to maintaining up‑to‑date professional knowledge and best practice.
