Kennedys is growing its Motor team and is looking for enthusiastic claims handlers to join our busy practice, with a focus on claims handling within the MOJ and OIC portals. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills, working closely with leading motor insurers on fast-paced, high-volume caseloads.
Team
Kennedys' Motor team manages a wide range of pre- and post-litigation matters, from low-value portal claims through to more complex fast-track disputes. Acting for major UK motor insurers, claims handling companies and self-insured businesses, the team offers hands-on experience in all stages of the litigation process, with a particular emphasis on MOJ and OIC portal work.
The Role
As a handler, you will:
1. Manage your own caseload of MOJ and OIC portal claims from instruction through to settlement or litigation.
2. Draft and review key documents including defences, witness statements, and instructions to counsel.
3. Liaise directly with clients, claimants, and third parties to progress cases efficiently.
4. Handle quantum disputes and advise on liability issues.
5. Support senior fee earners with more complex litigation when required.
6. Ensure cases are managed in line with service level agreements and client expectations.
Required experience
7. We welcome applications from candidates with:
0–2 years' relevant claims handling experience. Experience of MOJ/OIC portal claims handling (defendant experience preferred but not essential). Litigation or credit hire experience within motor claims. (preferred but not essential). Strong client communication and negotiation skills. Good organisational and time management abilities, with the ability to manage volume caseloads
