We re recruiting ASD Teaching Assistants for a well-established specialist school in reading that supports students with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role offers hands-on experience in a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to meet the individual needs of each learner.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group classroom support for students with ASD
* Help implement structured routines, including visual timetables and behaviour plans
* Support communication through systems like PECS, visual aids, and ABA-based approaches
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN professionals
* Assist with sensory needs, emotional regulation, and building student independence
* Promote a calm, supportive atmosphere throughout the school day
What We re Looking For:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs
* Confident supporting students with autism, communication needs, or sensory processing differences
* Patient, consistent, and reliable someone who builds trust with pupils over time
* Understanding of autism-friendly strategies (PECS, Makaton, ABA, etc. training provided)
* A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
