Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE) Band 6 - £43,482 to £48,823 per annum About the Post We are seeking a lecturer to join our Life Science team. The successful candidate will help deliver high-quality teaching across our Life Science programmes, including our Biology and Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation Science undergraduate degrees. You will deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, develop innovative learning materials, supervise undergraduate research projects, and provide pastoral support to our students. The post holder will also be expected to conduct research aligned with the University’s strategic priorities and engage in public outreach and recruitment activities. About the Team The Life Science team is based within the School of Health, Sciences and Society, and delivers degrees in Biology, Biomedical Science, Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation Science, and Nutrition and Human Health. Located at the University’s waterfront campus, the Life Science area has modern well-equipped laboratories with dedicated cell culture and microscopy facilities and is in close proximity to a range of diverse habitats for ecological and environmental research. Core research themes within the Life Science area include cell and developmental biology, regenerative medicine, microbial genetics, healthy eating, functional foods, spatial ecology, and conservation. About You Applicants should have a record of publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and have a strong scientific background in one or more of the core areas within the Life Sciences. We will consider applications from disciplines across the Life Sciences; however, we are particularly interested in biologists that can contribute to teaching across our current provision. The successful candidate will hold a PhD and ideally have experience of teaching in Higher Education or a similar academic environment. A relevant postgraduate teaching qualification is desirable. Candidates with postdoctoral research experience who want to pursue an academic career are also encouraged to apply.
