The Role
We have a number of exciting opportunities to join Liberty College, a growing and thriving organisation who are soon to be expanding into new premises.
Due to expansion, we are recruiting a Wellbeing Teaching Assistant to provide whole college support in mental health and wellbeing, both in and outside of lessons as part of our Wellbeing Team. This vitally important role is central to the promotion and protection of the wellbeing of our whole community as well making sure that we give the best possible support to learners with identified SEND and mental health needs. This is a key role involving collaboration with the Wellbeing Team and external organisations such as health services and social services. You will be responsible for safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and provide behavioural support to the team, recognising that unwanted behaviours are often linked to mental health and wellbeing.
You will provide support for learners in preparation for entering the workplace. You will have an active role in assisting learners on training courses to help them progress into education, employment, training or volunteering. You will work alongside our Tutors to deliver employability skills, vocational skills, life skills, Functional Skills maths and English sessions and uphold our core goals. This successful candidate for this role will need to be flexible and adaptable, as you will support learners across all subjects, moving class as appropriate to the needs of the learners. You may be supporting in different lessons throughout the day, to support those most at need.
As the Wellbeing Teaching Assistant, you will support the Tutor and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in ensuring the courses run effectively and the service provided reflects the ethos of the company. You will support the Tutors and SLT in ensuring directives and policies are reflected and implemented in everyday practice. You will be line managed by the SENCO, but also report to your designated Tutor and/or other members of SLT.
At times you may be required to cover classes while the Tutor is called away or in situations such as sickness. The TA would be provided with the lesson plan for those sessions and the support of another TA or another member of the Training Team. Teaching time for Teaching Assistants is paid at a higher rate.
Requirements
Full Time Teaching Assistants are required to be available to work for 195 days per year, 8.30 -16.30 Monday- Friday. Part-time Teaching Assistants are required to work a proportion of the 195 days appropriate to their contract.
We are a small team, with an ‘all hands on deck’ approach, so when you are not fulfilling your normal role, you may be asked to assist the team in other areas.
