We are looking for dedicated and proactive Housing Officers to join our team in a full-time permanent role. This is a rewarding position that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our tenants and the communities we serve.
As a Housing Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality housing management services. You will be responsible for managing a patch of properties, supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies, and taking appropriate action on tenancy issues including low-level anti-social behaviour and property condition. You will also carry out property inspections, manage allocations and work closely with internal teams and external agencies to provide a joined‑up, customer‑focused service.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a caseload of tenancies across a designated patch
* Carrying out property visits and tenancy reviews
* Responding to tenancy breaches
* Supporting new tenants through the sign‑up and settling‑in process
* Liaising with contractors and other service providers to maintain safe and secure homes
About you:
You will have experience in a housing or community‑based role. You’ll be confident working independently, managing competing priorities and building positive relationships with tenants and stakeholders.
Why join us?
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive team environment and contribute to meaningful work that supports individuals and strengthens communities. Newcastle City Council offers a generous benefits package including flexible working options, a local government pension scheme, generous annual leave, and access to health and wellbeing support. Staff also benefit from ongoing training and development opportunities, family‑friendly policies, and a range of employee discounts.
