We are currently seeking a highly driven, technically minded Sales Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of fabrication processes to join our expanding team during this exciting period of growth. This pivotal role bridges the gap between technical expertise and customer engagement, playing a vital part in understanding customer needs, building lasting relationships, and driving company growth.

This is a hybrid role which is split between working from home three days per week, with two days working collaboratively in the office. Collaboration hours can be spent at either at our manufacturing hub in Rotherham or at our Head Office in Tuxford. This can change from time to time depending on the changing needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Sales & Business Development
* Identify and develop new fabrication business opportunities in target industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, retail, recycling, and others.
* Manage and grow existing customer accounts through regular communication, gaining a deep understanding of their processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and proposing value-added solutions.
* Travel to customer sites, both within the UK and internationally, where necessary, to build relationships, assess opportunities, and support business growth.
* Research and identify new or emerging sectors where our fabrication capabilities can be adapted to meet market needs and add value.
* Develop and maintain a 12-month rolling pipeline of qualified sales opportunities aligned with the company's sales forecast and growth objectives.
* Technical Expertise
* Interpret and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and a wide range of sheet metal fabrication processes.
* Provide technical support and recommendations throughout the pre-sales and post-sales cycle, including reviewing CAD files, 3D drawings, and technical documentation.
* Consult closely with the fabrication and production teams to ensure customer requirements are practical, well-communicated, and achievable within the scope of our capabilities.
* Quoting & Pricing
* Communicate with suppliers and fabrication team to produce detailed quotes in a timely fashion.
* Create a detailed bill of materials ready for the Procurement Teams, following up to ensure parts ordered are accurate and in line with customer expectations.
* Work closely the procurement team to ensure that pricing is competitive and new suppliers are used where applicable.
* Demonstrate strong commercial acumen throughout the quoting process, effectively balancing the need to win orders with maintaining healthy margins and overall commercial performance.
* Project Management & Support
* Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely project delivery and maintain elevated levels of customer satisfaction.
* Monitor project progress closely and proactively address any technical or commercial challenges, including low margins, delivery delays, or customer satisfaction issues
* Market Analysis & Strategy
* Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies across sheet metal and other fabrication processes.
* Identify sales patterns and new market trends to highlight areas for growth and strategic focus.
* Attend industry exhibitions and trade shows to gain insights into competitor offerings and stay informed on industry developments.
Requirements:
* Experience:
* Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in the sheet metal or fabrication industry.
* Solid understanding of sheet metal materials, processes (e.g., laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing), and CAD/CAM systems.
* Skills:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
* Present a professional image at all times, representing the company with confidence, credibility, and integrity in both appearance and communication.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement effective, long-term solutions.
* Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Highly self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
* Other Requirements:
* Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events as needed.
* Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards
* Previous hands-on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment advantageous.
