Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy
CNWL are currently looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership in developing and managing the Kensington & Chelsea Psychotherapy service on a fixed-term Contract as Maternity cover. The post is established part time (8 sessions) and is based at Hathaway House, London, W9 2BA.
The post-holder will work within the Kensington & Chelsea community mental health teams (Hubs) to inform overall treatments, and to provide specialist psychological therapies assessments and treatment as part of integrated care pathways. They will also work closely with the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Clinical Lead and Art Therapists to provide specialist psychotherapy interventions.

* Provide medical leadership in developing and managing the psychotherapy service, and provide specialist supervision of psychotherapy treatments.
* Fulfil the training responsibilities of the Trust for psychiatric trainees, medical students and other mental health professionals.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* CORE CLINICAL AND LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing psychotherapy referrals, as well as psychotherapy waiting lists in the Psychotherapy Service.
* Providing specialist psychological therapy assessments and extended consultations. The post-holder will provide on a weekly basis one new psychotherapy assessment directly or by supervising a junior member of staff, one follow-up assessment consultation and one consultation for ongoing complex psychotherapy cases.
* Holding a clinical caseload including patients undergoing psychotherapy assessment (on average four patients); complex psychotherapy patients (on average four patients); patients in ongoing psychotherapy treatments as provided by medical and non-medical psychotherapists under supervision (on average twenty five patients).
* Providing clinical and psychotherapy supervision for 1.5 WTE Psychotherapy junior doctors posts (six-month psychotherapy placements usually at CT3 level).
* Attending weekly and fully participating in the Kensington & Chelsea North and South Hub team meetings.
* Direct involvement in the community teams’ clinical work.
* Providing clinical leadership to enable a full range of psychological treatments across Kensington and Chelsea.
* Medical input and clinical leadership in line with the Trust’s strategic objectives.

Educational And Professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Primary Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration
* Section 12 MHA Approved
* Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
Desirable criteria
* MRCPsych (or equivalent)
* Additional GMC Specialist Registration
* AC approval
* Higher degree (MSc, LLM, MD or PhD)
* Additional UKCP/BPC accredited post-graduate qualification in specialist psychotherapy or in advanced stage of training towards this
General Knowledge/ Experience & Core Skills
Essential criteria
* Experience of providing psychotherapy supervision to medical and non-medical staff as well as offering consultations to senior colleagues across disciplines
* Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
* Proficient in risk assessment and management
* Evidence of completed clinical audit/quality improvement projects
* Evidence of undergraduate and postgraduate trainee teaching
Desirable criteria
* Experience of service development/business planning/service evaluations
* High level knowledge of planned developments at a national level to improve efficiency and deliver quality services
* Experience of running a Balint group
* Experience of teaching non-medical staff/carers
* Experience of working with ethnic and multi-lingual minorities, refugees and other minority groups
