Managing Consultant – Net Zero - Heavy Industry
The Role
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focusing on the heavy industry sector, due to increased demand for GHG accounting, reporting, and emissions reduction services.
The successful candidate will support ERM’s clients on challenges related to energy and climate change, including:
* Accounting for greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2, and 3), developing inventories aligned with industry best practices
* Identifying GHG reduction opportunities and integrating them into strategic roadmaps
* Reporting climate performance in sustainability reports and CDP disclosures
* Embedding climate change considerations into risk management and strategy planning
* Conducting physical climate change and transition risk assessments
* Engaging with governance from the board to operational levels
The role involves helping clients achieve sustainable development objectives and managing related business risks and opportunities.
The candidate will work closely with other practice areas, assisting in sustainability strategy, impact assessments, due diligence, performance management, and risk management.
Role and key responsibilities
As a Net Zero Managing Consultant, you will:
* Provide strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions for net-zero strategies, GHG inventories, and decarbonisation projects
* Act as a project manager, leading teams, and delivering proposals and project outputs
* Analyze carbon emissions, develop reduction roadmaps, and support implementation
* Prepare reports, presentations, and technical summaries, managing junior staff and project delivery
* Develop proposals for diverse sectors
CORE SKILLS
Technical knowledge
* Relevant degree or 5+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields
* Sector experience in heavy industry is advantageous
* Expertise in GHG accounting and reporting standards (GHG Protocol, SBTi, etc.)
* Understanding of climate legislation and management systems
Technical skills
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
* Experience with data visualization tools is a plus
* Project management skills and ability to handle large datasets
* Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
