About the Role
The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high‑performing Process Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.
We are inviting expressions of interest from talented process engineers at all levels, from Consultant through to Associate Director, who want to play a meaningful role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.
This is a rare opportunity to join at a key stage of our UK growth journey, helping to establish, shape and expand a process engineering capability built on Egis’ global infrastructure expertise and long‑term commitment to the sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute or lead process design packages, covering feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline and detailed design across major UK water/wastewater programmes (e.g. AMP8, WINEP, SROs, etc).
* Produce process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, and basis of design reports to achieve optimum solutions.
* Attend site visits for data acquisition and meet site operators.
* Engage in discussions and liaison with technology providers and vendors.
* Contribute to design and operational safety studies such as HAZOP, SWIFT, DSEAR, HAC/HAP.
* Provide design support during delivery phases, including reviewing contractor submissions, answering design queries and supporting handover/commissioning activities when required.
* Contribute to business development and work winning, including identifying opportunities, shaping scopes and contributing to bids.
* Participate in recruitment, team development, mentoring and skills development efforts.
Minimum Requirements
* BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Chemical or Process Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer, CEng (or working toward chartership, grade dependent) with a recognised institution (e.g., IChemE).
* Experience delivering process engineering design, ideally in the UK Water industry, including leading process engineering roles on projects or significant tasks.
* Knowledge of design and operational safety studies such as HAZOP, SWIFT, DSEAR, HAC/HAP.
* Working knowledge of UK water industry standards, regulatory expectations and safety‑by‑design/CDM as applied to treatment facilities.
* Previous experience in a consultancy environment or engineering company or other relevant industry acting as Process Engineer.
* Ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating with other discipline areas while managing own and team’s work to tight programme and budget constraints.
* Proven ability to prepare high‑quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to a high level of quality assurance for a variety of audiences.
* Willingness to travel and visit operational works and construction sites as required, acting in a safe manner.
Desirable
* Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment and design simulation packages such as BioWin, SUMO and DYNAMIZU.
* Experience in water reuse/recycling, bioresources/sludge treatment or energy‑from‑waste design.
* Experience leading on BD/work winning contribution (or strong demonstrable aptitude), including opportunity shaping, bid inputs, client development and service‑line growth.
* Experience with people management, building teams, hiring and mentoring, and setting a positive, delivery‑focused culture.
