We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our mental health care home.
This position is critical in ensuring that the highest standards of care are delivered to our residents in accordance with CQC requirements and the principles of person-centred care. The Registered Manager will lead a dedicated team of care professionals, ensuring the care home provides a safe, supportive, and positive environment for individuals with mental health conditions.
The Registered Manager will be accountable for maintaining compliance with all CQC regulations and improving the quality of care through effective leadership, staff development, and engagement with residents and their families.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management and Leadership
* Lead, manage, and supervise the care team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of care services.
* Ensure compliance with all CQC regulations and standards, maintaining the home's CQC rating at a high level.
* Provide guidance, leadership, and support to the care team, fostering a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
* Develop and implement care plans and risk assessments that are person-centred and tailored to each individual resident.
* Conduct regular team meetings, providing supervision and training opportunities to promote continuous professional development.
2. Care Delivery and Quality Assurance
* Ensure all care delivery is person-centred, safe, effective, and delivered with dignity and respect.
* Regularly monitor and review care plans, ensuring they reflect current needs and preferences, and are reviewed in line with residents' changing conditions.
* Promote high standards of clinical and non-clinical care across the home, including effective monitoring of residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
* Implement and review policies and procedures to ensure care is provided in line with legal and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding and mental capacity.
3. Compliance and Risk Management
* Ensure the care home meets all CQC standards and quality indicators, addressing any areas for improvement identified in CQC inspections or audits.
* Prepare and manage the home for CQC inspections, responding to any action plans or improvement notices issued by the CQC.
* Ensure that the home maintains accurate, up-to-date records in line with regulatory standards and internal policies.
* Oversee the implementation of effective risk management practices, identifying potential risks to residents, staff, or the organization and developing strategies for mitigation.
4. Financial Management
* Work within the agreed budget for the care home, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining high-quality care.
* Monitor the financial performance of the home, identifying areas of cost savings without compromising care quality.
* Assist with business development, marketing, and occupancy management to ensure the financial sustainability of the home.
5. Staff Recruitment, Development, and Supervision
* Ensure the recruitment, selection, and retention of a skilled and competent care team, adhering to safer recruitment practices.
* Conduct regular performance reviews, appraisals, and supervisions to ensure high levels of staff performance and engagement.
* Identify training needs and ensure the team receives continuous professional development and support to maintain skills and knowledge in line with regulatory requirements.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, their families, and external professionals (e.g., healthcare providers, local authorities).
* Work closely with local health and social care networks, ensuring effective partnership working and referral pathways.
* Promote a culture of transparency and communication, keeping residents and their families informed about care updates and changes.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Manager with proven experience in managing a mental health care home or similar healthcare setting.
* Nursing qualification (RGN, RMN, or similar) or relevant management qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care).
* In-depth knowledge of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory framework, standards, and inspection processes.
* Experience in managing a team, providing leadership, supervision, and training.
* Strong understanding of Mental Health Act, Safeguarding, DOLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards), and other relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to manage and control a budget, maintaining financial efficiency while ensuring high-quality care.
* Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex care issues and organizational challenges.
Desirable
* Experience working in mental health services for adults with learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs.
* Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes and audit management.
* Experience with CQC inspection preparation and action plans.
