Take ownership of electrical design for medium and high voltage substations, including protection, control, and power systems. Generate and maintain accurate design documentation, drawings, and O&M manuals. Engage directly with clients and internal teams to deliver a customer-centric design experience. Ensure designs are compliant with industry standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. Design, calculate, and document electrical systems including CT, CVT, LVAC, LVDC, logic diagrams, and trip tables. Develop control and protection circuits for switchgear. Create detailed drawings using EPLAN and AutoCAD for MV and HV substations. Perform protection studies using ETAP software. Configure protection and communication devices and generate signal lists. Collaborate with operations to ensure constructible designs and proper equipment installation. Review electrical specifications, project scope, and identify any design gaps. Track procurement, manage submittals, and verify equipment delivery. Liaise with suppliers on specifications and components. Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and ISO standards. Skills & Experience Required: Degree (Level 8) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in MV/HV substation design. 3–5 years’ experience in medium or high voltage design. Strong knowledge of HV and MV switchgear, LVAC, and DC systems associated with HV substations. Familiarity with Irish electrical codes, distribution, and grid standards. Experience with protection relays, control systems, and electrical CAD software (EPLAN, AutoCAD, SEE-Electrical, or similar). Knowledge of IEC standards is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. High level of computer literacy and proficiency in PC software packages. Right to work in Ireland.
