Role overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer within Nidec Drives. The successful candidate will manage Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical accounts, working with high-complexity and long-lead-time suppliers globally.
This role involves expediting materials, resolving root cause issues to ensure a seamless supply chain for production, and managing supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) and inventory optimization.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Material Availability:
* Raising POs, rescheduling, and cancelling orders to meet MRP requirements, maintaining accurate order book management.
* Enforcing an RCCM approach for line stops due to parts issues.
* Managing suppliers daily to ensure timely delivery of parts in the correct quantities.
* Reviewing supply chain risks and proactively resolving them.
* Monitoring supplier performance and taking corrective actions for poor performance.
* Supporting the Quality Department in resolving quality issues.
Inventory Management:
* Seeking continuous improvement in lead times and inventory levels.
* Supporting internal processes to ensure material availability, quality, and accessibility.
Project / Contract Management:
* Managing assigned supplier accounts to improve performance.
* Collaborating with Procurement to negotiate, implement, and review contractual agreements.
Travel Requirements:
* Travel within the UK is expected.
Qualifications & Experience:
* MCIPS and/or a Business Degree.
* Proven mechanical/electronics purchasing experience in manufacturing.
* Experience in global purchasing, managing strategic accounts, and sole-sourced parts.
* Inventory management experience (supplier and internal).
* Proven ability to resolve shortages.
* Analytical skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels, with confidence.
