Offer description

We are delighted to be recruiting a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join our Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Intensive Treatment Team (EDITT). The role is offered on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week) on a 6-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role may include some weekend virtual working. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a service which is regionally leading in Eating Disorders day treatment and is expanding its day and virtual intensive offer.

Main duties of the job

You will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering high-quality care to young people and their families. This will predominantly be clinic-based, covering the day and virtual intensive programme, but interventions in the community or on acute wards may occasionally be required.

Applicants must demonstrate Trust values in delivering care. We seek qualities including dedication, focus, compassion, empathy, and sensitivity to individuals who may be distressed or challenging.

You will provide NICE concordant treatment to young people with eating disorders, often with co-morbidities, neurodiverse presentations, and complex needs. In collaboration with the team and parents/carers, you will deliver a structured treatment plan with appropriate therapeutic approaches. You will offer emotional and practical support during and around mealtimes, support parents during family meals, and promote dignity and self-esteem in patients. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and motivation are essential to work effectively with young people, their families, and the team.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will plan and deliver direct patient care with minimal supervision, ensuring continuity and working within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment.
