Job Title: Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician Location: Beddington Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Salary: £47,239 per annum annual bonus scheme Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive EC&I Technician to join a leading resource recovery and recycling operation. This role is critical in ensuring the ongoing maintenance, reliability, and improvement of all Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation systems at a modern Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). You will play a key part in supporting the plant’s operational performance by safely delivering fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance, and proactive improvement projects. The role also includes supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring plant compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: Carry out maintenance and repairs on all EC&I equipment across the facility. Support fault diagnosis and resolve issues to minimise plant downtime. Deliver small-scale improvement projects to enhance reliability and reduce operational costs. Participate in the coordination and supervision of contractors, ensuring safety and compliance on-site. Contribute to the maintenance strategy, including planning and execution. Support and use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Provide out-of-hours response as part of a call-out rota, covering weekends, nights, and public holidays. Essential Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in an EC&I engineering role, ideally in a process or manufacturing environment. City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. Strong familiarity with DCS/SCADA systems and their application in plant operations. Understanding of environmental and health & safety legislation and best practices. Clear and confident communicator, capable of working across different teams and levels. Competency in interpreting instrument loop drawings and P&IDs. Logical thinker with effective problem-solving skills. Desirable Qualifications & Experience: 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification. Recognised multi-skilled formal electrical qualification. Familiarity with Energy Recovery Facilities or heavy industrial environments. Experience using CMMS for scheduling and documenting maintenance.
