New Directions Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Sensory Pathway Teaching Assistants to join our pool of support staff working across a range of SEND settings in Leeds. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about creating tailored, holistic learning journeys that help young people with complex and medical needs build essential life skills, improve physical development, and enhance overall wellbeing.
About the Role:
As a Sensory Pathway Teaching Assistant, you will support learners through a highly personalised approach that incorporates sensory integration, therapeutic activities, and structured routines. You will play a vital role in helping each child engage meaningfully with their environment and learning experience developing trust, independence, and confidence in themselves.
We are looking for individuals who are:
* Experienced in supporting pupils with complex health or medical needs.
* Confident in providing personal care and following individual healthcare plans.
* Knowledgeable in trauma-informed and holistic approaches to education.
* Able to adapt learning strategies to meet a variety of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
* Trained in Team-Teach or similar therapeutic behaviour strategies - desirable, not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver 1:1 and small group support within a sensory-focused, therapeutic learning environment.
* Assist in planning and delivering individualised learning journeys tailored to EHCPs and sensory profiles.
* Lead or support sensory-based sessions designed to improve regulation, motor development, and engagement.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a joined-up approach to care and education.
* Prioritise the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of every learner in your care
