Missions/Main Duties
Working In Collaboration With Our Designers And Contract Partners, The Senior Engineer Will Be Involved In a Variety Of Tasks Such As
* Develop design deliverables (drawings, reports, specifications) in accordance with appropriate Railway Group, Network Rail Company standards and other client requirements
* Liaise with construction teams to ensure designs are buildable and represent value for money
* Develop and maintain hazard / risk registers for allocated design packages.
* Liaise with wider design team to ensure consistency and quality of deliverables across all projects.
* Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements
* Prepare and check technical documents and reports and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders
* Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
* Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets
* When required, to undertake the roles of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE), Task Manager, Designer, Checker or Approver for all various types of civil design.
* Competent to work unsupervised and to supervise others; competent to check and approve the work of others; competent to sign off design certificates on behalf of the company.
* Conceptual outline and detailed design of engineering solutions, presentation of engineering options.
* Delivery of work to programme, budget and specification.
* Training and development, mentoring of junior staff.
* Client and third party liaison.
* Establishment of internal design standards and/or processes to achieve a continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
* Contributing to long term technical development of the office by application of new techniques, procedures and practices.
* Develop a strong focused client relationship
* Effective management of and response to project related correspondence
* Assist and support the Principal Engineer where required
Profile/Skills
* Professional registration with either IStructE or ICE at Chartered level or demonstratable evidence of progress towards Chartership.
* Significant Structural engineering design experience with large scale infrastructure exposure
* Experience working with BIM level 2, Revit. Knowledge of Robot, Tekla, Tekla Tedds analysis software beneficial.
* Experience working with relevant design standards for example Eurocodes, British Standards, UK Building Regulations, and Network Rail Standard.
* When required, to undertake the roles of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE).
