FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Private Cloud SRE Manager to work for our client within the financial services sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and become permanent. It will be a hybrid role based in Leeds or Manchester.
Our client is looking for a passionate and experienced Engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team to help run and evolve one of the group’s most critical platforms. You’ll be a key contributor to the stability, performance, and scalability of services, supporting the organisations digital transformation and long-term technology vision.
You’ll work actively with container platforms, VMware infrastructure, and observability tooling, ensuring their services are resilient and efficient. You’ll also lead and participate in post-mortems, drive automation, and continuously improve the platform through engineering-led solutions. This role also involves working in Agile environments, collaborating across multiple teams and disciplines to deliver high-quality outcomes at pace.
Responsibilities
1. Enhance and support a wide range of platform technologies, including VMware infrastructure, container platforms and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift), databases, and applications
2. Manage environments and support CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code
3. Improve observability using tools such as Dynatrace, ensuring proactive monitoring and alerting
4. Lead and contribute to post-mortems to identify and implement long-term fixes aligning with organisations long term objectives
5. Troubleshoot complex issues across the platform stack, including infrastructure, networking, storage, databases, and applications
6. Work in Agile teams, collaborating with engineers, architects, and product owners across the organisations
7. Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
8. Oversee and contribute to stability, scalability and performance of services, ensuring use of engineering best practices
